When planning a home renovation, it’s only natural that you’ll want to look at as much design inspiration as possible. So, why would it be any different for your wardrobe reno?
Your wardrobe is no longer just a place to store clothes. Modern wardrobes have become dazzling dressing rooms, complete with bespoke lighting, functional accessories, and chandeliers that bring a touch of class and elegance to the space. When done right, your wardrobe can be used as a feature in your room, or even make the space feel bigger. With this in mind, we have compiled a list wardrobe features you may like to consider.
1. Double hang for extra storage
Gone are the days of the single hanging rail and top shelf. We now have options to mix and match your hanging space to be customised to your needs as much as possible. Do you have mostly shirts and a few long dresses to hang? Maybe consider using a mix of long and short hanging rails to maximise your space. Using the hanging rail that suits you best gives you the room and flexibility to add in a shelf or even a set of draws. The possibilities are endless.
2. Mixing tones, colours, and surface textures for visual interest
Ahh contrast, a beautiful thing that can help give life to your space. Using a mix light and dark colours for your wardrobe surfaces can help to add depth to your robe and give the illusion that it is bigger than it is, and who doesn’t want that? It also allows you to add a pop of personality to your robe or continue a theme from another space. Perhaps you like things to be bold a dramatic? Why not opt for black wenge woodgrain for your wardrobe interior? We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again; the possibilities really are endless when it comes to a custom wardrobe!
3. Combining shelving and drawers
Do you prefer to fold your clothes instead of hang? Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you! There are plenty of options to meet your storage needs. Whilst we mainly recommend drawers for all your folding, for a more economic option, you can also go with a set of shelves. Perhaps you’d like a space to display your jewellery box or your Gucci handbag? Using a mix of drawers and shelving can allow you to store your clothes away in all whilst keeping some shelving free for your favourite display pieces.
4. Adding a pull-out mirror when there is no space for a full length
For many people, having a floor length mirror is essentially non-negotiable. But what happens when you don’t have the space for one? Thankfully, at Hills we offer a pull-out pivot mirror, which does an incredible job at mimicking a full-length mirror. This small but versatile mirror allows you the luxury of seeing yourself fully with the convenience of being able to be tucked away nicely when you’re done! We typically recommend this mirror to those with no space to spare but it can also be a unique feature in any wardrobe. We have a variety of wardrobe accessories available to help you create a more functional wardrobe space.
