What is an acid-etch glass shower screen?

Are you looking for a shower screen that combines privacy with style?

If you’ve been looking for a new shower screen that offers style and privacy, have you considered acid-etch glass? Acid-etch glass is a translucent glass with a satin finish that is used to soften incoming light. Commonly used in doors and shower screens, the acid-etch gives a “frosted appearance” allowing diffused light to pass through while obscuring silhouettes.

What does acid-etched mean?

Acid-etching is a process of treating the glass with chemicals to create a frosted appearance. You can read more about the process here.

At Hills Robes & Screens, we can provide you with an acid-etch shower screen in two main finishes:

  • Acid-Etch
  • Low Iron Acid-Etch

What is the difference between acid-etch & low iron acid-etch?

Both products offer a translucent finish with good light diffusion, making it a perfect option for a privacy screen in your modern bathroom. Smooth in appearance, the standard acid-etch glass is more cost-effective, and contains an inherent green hue. This might make it unsuitable for some applications. The low iron acid-etch is “whiter” in appearance making it versatile and more aesthetically pleasing.

The use of acid-etched is becoming increasingly popular in modern bathrooms and is a great way of filtering light while adding privacy.
